How to generate traffic for your website

I have long wondered how some website write an article about how to generate web traffic to their website and the site they are talking about is the actual site you are on.. which is talking about generating web traffic. They're literally making my by talking about how to make money. I'm not going to lie, this article is pretty much the same thing. I have read numerous articles about how to generate traffic and I am going to highlight some of the main points I have read that are very important to generating traffic to your website, getting more hits, getting people to click on ads, and generating real income from putting all these together.

The Title:
Create an eye catching title that is short, concise and to the point. Try to make the title no more than 9 words but at least 4. Use key words in your title that could be used in search engines. Avoid filler words such as 'the', 'and','a' because they are not recognized by search engines. The title is considered a higher priority search term and is a key factor in getting someone to visit your web page. Its like the title of a book, it can make or break weather someone clicks to go to your site in search results.

The Content:
You want to create content that people are interested in and will always be interested in . You want people to enjoy what they read and find value in it. Think about the content you are writing and make sure what you are writing is something other people would find true interest in. You want your content to not only be of good quality and interest to the read, you also want it to be timeless. You want someone to find your content useful now, 2 months from now, and 2 years from now. It is content like this that can continue to generate traffic for you're site. People that enjoy what they read will recommend your site to others on other blogs and forums.

The rich truely do get richer:
One thing that is important with search engines is the more people that visit your site the higher you will be ranked in searches. And the higher you are ranked in searches... the more people will visit your site. So it truly is a matter of the rich getting richer. The snow ball effect can be very tough to start to get rolling, and its that initial push that can separate a successful website from a flop.

Effective use of Meta tags and keywords:
The description meta tag should be a one or two sentence description of the websites purpose and content using keywords and key phrases from the web page. You do not want to make you're description too big. Anything over 150 characters is not going to fly well with search engines. Typically only the first 50 or 60 characters are seen on search results such as Google so make them count.

The keyword Meta tag consists of actual keywords or search terms someone might type in search of a site like yours. Do not include common words in keywords tag (the, and, a, to, and so on) and only include specific, unique words words. Separate each keyword or key phrase with a comma. Try to include 2 and 3 word phrases in you're key words but try not to use the same word more than 5 times as it can hurt you're ranking within a search engine.

Spread the word:
You must make sure to submit your site to all popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google, Ask.com, msn, aol and more. Make sure your site has been 'optimized' with keywords, effective titles, and updated content. Go out there and talk about your website on forums, question and answer services, and other people's blogs. Make sure there is a link to your website on every post you make. Just responding on forums related to your website and then dropping a little plug for you're site at the end can really help spread the word and get that small snow ball rolling.

Look into requesting reciprocal links from other similar sites. Email them or leave them comments asking them to reference your website on theirs and in return you will link their website on yours. This can really help cross advertising especially if they're site is 'free' advertising driven as well.

Be patient and persistent!
It can be very daunting at first when it seems no matter how hard you try you are not getting people to come to your website. Don't give up! The more you talk about you're website and the better your content is the more people will be happy they spent time at your website. They will recommend your website to others and others will hopefully in turn continue this trend. Remember a post you put on a forum that is a hot topic in relation to your website will stay there for a long time. People will find these forum topics in search engines years from now and still see your response and a link to your website.
